[NEWS] Big Day for Big Bang at MTV Awards

Big Day for Big Bang at MTV Awards

Korean boy group Big Bang pocketed the Worldwide Act award at this year’s MTV Europe Awards, which were held on Sunday in Belfast in Northern Ireland.

Online voters decide the winner of the newly-established award from a final list of five candidates representing Europe, Asia, North and Latin America, Africa, and India and the Middle East. Big Bang beat Britney Spears (North America), Abdelfattah Grini (Africa/India/Middle East), Lena (Europe) and Restart (Latin America) to collect the prestigious accolade.

“The award is even more significant because it was decided by music fans,” the five-member group said. “We hope [this] will serve as momentum to bring K-pop more into the spotlight of the global music scene.”
