[NEWS] Big Bang’s mini-album “Alive” closes the 1st half of the year on top of the Gaon Charts’ physical album rankings 120721

For the first half of the year of 2012, Big Bang warms up the 1st place ranking with their 5th mini-album, “Alive.” According to Gaon Chart’s national physical album ranking, Big Bang topped the sales chart with 266,911 copies sold.

“BLUE,” which is one of several title tracks from the mini-album, “Alive,” ranked high in the music charts online in the first half of the year. In addition, Big Bang’s special edition album, “STILL ALIVE,” ranked 6th with 117,979 copies, making the group have two albums in the Top 10.

Following closely in 2nd place is SHINee’s 4th mini-album, “Sherlock,” which sold 168,161 copies.

Girls’ Generation’s first sub-unit, Taetiseo, is the highest-selling girl group of the year so far. Their first mini-album, “Twinkle,” ranked in 3rd place with 140,826 copies sold.

Kim Junsu of JYJ had his 1st solo album, “Tarantallegra,” take 4th place and sold 126,220 copies, the highest recorded sales for a solo artist. CNBLUE’s 3rd mini-album, “Ear Fun,” follows in 5th place with 121,735 copies sold.

However, the most prominent ranking for the first half of the year is Busker Busker’s 1st album, “Busker Busker 1st Album,” which sold 114,760 copies sold, ending up in 7th place.

Infinite and EXO-K sold 108,639 and 106,683 copies of their 3rd mini-album, “Infinitize,” and 1st mini-album, “MAMA,” respectively for 8th and 9th place.

In particular, Shinhwa, who reunited after so long, released their comeback album, “The Return” and sold 77,279 copies for 10th place.

According to the Gaon Chart’s official, “Last year, only 12 albums sold over 100,000 copies, whereas within only this first half year, 9 albums alone surpassed the 100,000 mark.”
